My clinical practice, leadership and community support are guided by the following principles:
I am passionate about the role of individual and relational context: understanding individuals as a person and the world that they live in as it is critical in weaving a meaningful purpose in therapy. Furthermore, I employ a bio-psychosocial lens to my practice; I believe that people function best when there is harmony between biological, psychological, and social well-being.
I strive to cultivate a therapy and counselling space that is safe and non-judgemental for all genders, races, beliefs and faiths, cultures, bodies, sexual orientations, family constellations and relationships.
I focus on individualβs depth of understanding and awareness of themselves, their challenges and issues along with their presenting symptoms. Collaboratively, I take a tailor-made approach to develop evidence based treatment goals based on their needs that suits best.
I am passionate about social advocacy and take responsibility to contribute towards standing up against racism and historical injustices towards Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC). I strive to engage in ongoing antiracist practice, research and studies in order to ensure a safe and trauma informed space for my clients.
I had the opportunity to support trauma informed and culturally sensitive counselling to 46 First Nations and Indigenous communities, Nishnawbe Aski Nation Territory, with Mental Health Wellness Support Program, known as NAN Hope Project.
My journey as a multidisciplinary independent artist has been deeply intertwined with my role as a mental health practitioner. As an independent artist, I am constantly exploring the depths of movement and its connection to our innermost selves. My experience spans across various dance forms, from classical to contemporary allowing me to delve into abstract narratives through movement and emotions.
I am fascinated by the stories our bodies tell, the silent language of movement that speaks volumes about who we are and what we feel. I am particularly intrigued by the "why" behind movements β what drives us to express ourselves through dance, music and painting and how the body and mind can hold embodied meanings and purpose. This curiosity fuels my passion for artistic exploration and drives me to understand the deeper layers of human expression. I believe that art has the power to heal, to transform, and to illuminate meaning and purpose.
